It is expected by God that we will see events unfold that He foretold in His Word. In fact, in reference to future events, Jesus said, “when you see” in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21. Because He makes known the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), it is our obligation to take that knowledge and be discerning as we observe.
An example of God expecting us to observe the signs is found in Luke 12. After pointing out that the people could see the signs when it comes to the weather (clouds in the west = rain, wind from the south = a hot day), Jesus called them hypocrites for not examining the “present time.” Signs were everywhere about the arrival of the Messiah, yet they did not look. They didn’t examine current events especially as they relate to Scripture.
With almost 30% of Scripture being prophetic in nature (both fulfilled and yet unfulfilled), it is undeniable that His revealing of future events is a critical Truth in Scripture. Like all Scripture, it is God-breathed (2 Tim. 3:16) and not to be avoided, but studied and understood.
With that said, I caution you to not place your anchor of prophetic authority in the sea of media. That anchor must remain in Scripture. A misplaced anchor can cause a shipwreck of opinions and declarations.
Now…study His Word, look around and look up.
